About Henny Penny Nursery School

Henny Penny is the longest running preschool on the North Shore, inspiring young learners for more than 60 years. Many of our students have siblings and parents who are Henny Penny alumni! Henny Penny is deeply rooted in the Salem community and is housed within the First Church in Salem located on Essex Street in the heart of Salem. While not a religious-based education, Henny Penny’s values are aligned with those of the church: freedom, reason, interdependence, equity, justice, transformation, pluralism, and generosity as pathways to honoring love.

Henny Penny offers:

  • Enrollment for children age 2.9 and up

  • Students do not need to be potty trained to attend

  • Flexible scheduling–you choose from 2 - 5 days a week

  • Standard hours are 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with an option for early drop-off at 8:00 and/or extended day lunch bunch going until 1:00 for small additional fees
